Donald Trump’s new spokeswoman, former congressional candidate and tea party activist Katrina Pierson, on Monday condemned Islam in a Facebook message that promoted the presidential ambitions of the billionaire businessman.

“Islam preys on the weak and uses political correctness as cover. Two things that Americans won't be concerned with when @realDonaldTrump is in the White House,” she wrote on Facebook.

Her comments follow a horrific attack in Paris on Friday where at least 130 were killed and 350 were wounded. Islamic State has claimed responsibility for the massacre.

Trump has said on multiple occasions that it may be necessary to close some mosques because people could be meeting there to plot attacks, and he reiterated that view on Monday. "You’re going to need to watch and study the mosques," Trump said on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe."

The Trump campaign did not immediately respond to request for comment.
